McDaniel partnership could address CCPS diversity hiring, if not for cost

Carroll County’s Board of Education, in recent years, has publicly stated that increasing diversity among its workforce is a priority, in an attempt to bring the percentage of teachers and other staff more in-line with those of the minority populations in the county and the school system’s student body. Minorities made up just 4.1 percent of Carroll County Public Schools’ staff in 2016, according to the data from the Maryland State Department of Education. The county’s entire population is 8.2 percent minorities and the student population is 14 percent minority. A program that could help the school system address this, and was recently lauded as a “Model of Excellence,” is actually located right here in Westminster. (Carr. Co. Times)
