Mayoral candidates debate development, policing at forum

For the third time in this election season, all four candidates vying for the mayoral seat faced off in a debate Wednesday night. Mayor Mike Pantelides and Republican challenger Nevin Young sparred against each other as well as Democratic candidates Gavin Buckley and John Astle. Pantelides relied on his record and highlighted his accomplishments as mayor. Young is a local attorney and first-time candidate. He has run a relatively understated campaign thus far, but used the forum to heighten his stance as a challenger, highlighting what he called missed opportunities and delayed progress during the last four years. Buckley, a local businessman and entrepreneur, is also seeking public office for the first time. (Capital)
