Frederick County school board requests more funding for IB, reading programs

Members of the Frederick County Board of Education expressed support for working two programs and a new employee into Superintendent Terry Alban’s recommended operating budget. Despite a budget that currently has an $18 million variance, board members initially showed support for creating a structured literacy program, expanding the system’s International Baccalaureate program to a school in the city of Frederick, and creating a “budget ombudsman” position.
