Jimmy DeButts: Buckley must scrap vile tax proposal for Annapolis

At least Gavin Buckley didn’t ask us to read his lips. Nope, Annapolis’ neophyte mayor only pledged in a pre-election questionnaire he wouldn’t raise property taxes. His campaign gave a “Read my Facebook” denouncement of higher property tax fears in the fall. “Gavin has no intention of raising taxes, please don't believe the vile mailers telling you otherwise!!!” Buckley wants Annapolis residents to swallow a 20 percent increase in the property tax mill rate. Under his plan, the rate would increase to .779 from .649 for every $100 of assessed property value. That truly is vile. (Capital)
