Valerie Ervin is facing a deadline of 5 p.m. Thursday to decide whether she wants to run for governor in place of her deceased running mate, Kevin Kamenetz. Ervin had been running for lieutenant governor on a ticket with Democratic gubernatorial candidate Kamenetz, who died suddenly on May 10. Under Maryland law, Ervin has the option to run for governor herself and name a lieutenant governor running mate, or remain as a candidate for lieutenant governor with a new partner running for governor. (Balt.
