Nike takes a stand – will Md. companies follow suit?

Nike’s decision to have former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick serve as a representative for its recently unveiled 30th anniversary “Just Do It” advertising campaign,  has stirred up a lot of debate and discussion. An overarching question that loomed large at the start of this campaign in early September 2018 was whether Nike’s controversial business move, purportedly based upon principle, would cause its competitors, like Under Armour and Adidas, to gain market share advantage over the company. Several potential outcomes were possible:  Nike’s sales could decrease, remain the same or significantly increase. In this case Nike experienced two of these outcomes in succession following its rollout. (Daily Record)
