Allegany County students above average on tests

Allegany County Public Schools recently released results of the 2019 Maryland State assessments for English/Language Arts and math. According to school officials, the ACPS proficiency rate was above the state average in 14 of 17 tested areas. Maryland assessments are scored on a 650- to 850-point scale, which is divided into five performance levels. The first level indicates students are not meeting expectations. The Maryland State Board of Education considers the fourth and fifth levels to mean students are proficient on the assessment. (Times-News)
