D.C., Prince George’s say they could ease restrictions soon; Baltimore County to enter ‘Phase 1’ reopening

Officials in and around the nation’s capital made tentative steps Thursday toward easing their coronavirus shutdowns, as unemployment claims in the District, Maryland and Virginia reached 1.3 million from the start of the pandemic. D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) said the city could begin a phased reopening by next Friday, May 29, and Prince George’s County Executive Angela D. Alsobrooks (D) said the county is on track to be ready for a modified reopening June 1, if current trends continue. (Wash Post)
