Parent-teacher conferences fall victim to lack of participation

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink. Likewise, you can schedule time for parent-teacher conferences, but you can’t make parents show up and take advantage of the opportunity. That’s what the Frederick County Board of Education has apparently come to accept about their traditional high school parent-teacher conference sessions. Because only about two hours of the allotted 10 hours for these sit-down conferences were being utilized by parents, the school board canceled them altogether this year. (News-Post)
