Regional insurance giant CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is rolling out a new workforce model that will allow about 55% of its employees to primarily work remotely. The model is part of a “multi-year, multi-million dollar” effort to reorganize how and where its employees will work, CEO Brian D. Pieninck told the Baltimore Business Journal. Under the new plan, more than half of the company’s over 7,000 associates will be able to work mostly remote full-time, spending one day or less a week in an office setting. About 30% of employees will divide their time, working in an office for about two or three days a week. The final 15% will be working four or five days a week in a physical CareFirst location.
