The issue is proving to be as thorny as it’s always been, including here on the Mid-Shore. Shootings in Atlanta, Georgia, and Boulder, Colorado, unfolded just days from each other. The tragedies have kickstarted calls for a federal ban on assault rifles and universal background checks from President Joe Biden and many Democrats.
