The Maryland General Assembly will become the fourth state legislature in the country to conduct racial impact statements as part of its legislative analysis, Senate President Bill Ferguson and House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones announced Monday. “There is finally a broader understanding across Maryland and the country of the existence of structural racism – but we have to have better and deeper information in order to reverse its impact,” Jones said in a statement.
