In new chairman’s role, Bezos vows to make Amazon ‘Earth’s Safest Place to Work’

Amazon.com Inc. needs to change to better support its workers’ success, founder and outgoing CEO Jeff Bezos wrote in his final letter to shareholders before he steps down as CEO and becomes the company’s executive chairman later in April. Coming less than a week after a drive to unionize at the e-commerce giant’s warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama was defeated, the closest any of its employees have ever come to joining a union, Bezos’s letter noted: “… we need to do a better job for our employees.”
