Large fire partially collapses building at Domino Sugar; no injuries reported

April 21, 2021

A large, three-alarm fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at the Domino Sugar facility in Baltimore’s Locust Point neighborhood. The blaze was primarily in the company’s sugar shed, which has since collapsed. Shortly after 3 p.m., plumes of black smoke could be seen moving across the city’s Inner Harbor. Blair Adams, a spokesperson for the Baltimore Fire Department, said during a press briefing outside the facility Tuesday afternoon that firefighters arrived to find “heavy fire showing from the center of the silo,” which suffered a “partial collapse.”
