Maryland electronic components company acquired by growing private equity-backed firm

Frederick technology company Planar Monolithics Industries (PMI) joined the ranks of the acquired Monday when it was purchased for an undisclosed sum by Quantic Electronics.  Founded in 1989 by Ashok Gorwara, PMI works in a highly specialized space developing hybrid monolithic microwave integrated circuit (“MIC/MMIC”) components and subsystems, which modify the amplification of microwaves used in a range of technology industries, including telecommunications, terrestrial communications, satellite communications, mobile-radio communications, defense applications, avionics systems and others.
