The Maryland Board of Public Works this week approved more than $150 million in new contracts aimed at increasing staffing at the Department of Labor’s unemployment division as the state continues to work through a backlog of claims amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The two contracts, which total $150.2 million, were approved by the Board of Public Works Wednesday and are financed completely through federal funds.
