Peter Kjome, president and CEO of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, to step down in early 2022

April 27, 2021

Peter Kjome, president and CEO of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra since 2017, will depart the city’s premiere classical music performance group early next year. The BSO announced Kjome’s pending departure on Monday, saying he has “decided to conclude his tenure with the organization at the end of his contract in January 2022.” Kjome has helmed the organization, which last year had an $18.6 million budget and employed a workforce of nearly 200 full- and part-timers, per BBJ research, through a tumultuous period in the last couple of years, even preceding the suspension of live performances during the Covid-19 pandemic.
