Rutherford: ‘Vaccine shopping’ leading clinics to administer COVID-19 shots to residents from other counties

March 4, 2021

Maryland Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford on Wednesday bemoaned residents who do “vaccine shopping” but said the state can’t really do much to stop them from getting their COVID-19 vaccines if they are entitled to get them under Phase 1 of distribution. “They’re sitting in front of their computer, they’re looking to see where they can get a vaccine and if they have transportation, they’re driving to that location,” Rutherford told Yuripzy Morgan. “So that is happening and some people are more aggressive than others in terms of seeking it out. But when it comes to the state sites… we really cannot discriminate base on our federal dollars in terms of individuals from a particular jurisdiction.”
