Small businesses across D.C., Maryland and Virginia were approved for $1.44 billion in the most recent round of Paycheck Protection Program loans, according to the Small Business Administration. The data, which shows approvals for PPP loans through Jan. 24, comes after a slow and relatively troubled rollout of the second phase of the program, which opened on Jan. 11 to some smaller lenders and ultimately Jan. 19 to all eligible lenders.
