Former Baltimore City Council member Robert ‘Bobby’ Curran dies at 76
|
- Former Baltimore City Councilman Robert W. “Bobby” Curran, a member of one of Maryland’s most prominent political families, died Friday in his sleep, his brother said. He was 76.
- “He was a person who cared about what a councilman was supposed to be doing,” said his brother, former Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran Jr. “He went to the community meetings, found out what was going on, who was happy with what was happening, what city services needed to be improved.”

Maryland should fully honor Thurgood Marshall | READER COMMENTARY
|
- The Justice Thurgood Marshall National Historic Site Establishment Act of 2025 (S. 791 and H.R. 1718), introduced by Sens. Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks and Rep. Kweisi Mfume, with bipartisan support from Maryland’s congressional delegation, would designate that school a national historic site — an affiliated area of the National Park System.
- The Senate has held its hearing. What the bill needs now is the unmistakable voice of Maryland’s citizens and voters. Call and write your members of Congress and urge passage before the 119th Congress adjourns. And if it falls short, our delegation should reintroduce it in January, in the 120th Congress, and Marylanders should be ready to press until it is law.
This is our history, our city and our justice. Let us not leave it waiting.
