Police arrested a teenager Tuesday morning suspected of stealing a car during a ride-along with Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. in Baltimore City, according to county police spokesperson Joy Stewart. Members of the Regional Auto Theft Task Force were investigating a 2016 Hyundai Sonata sedan whose owner reported it stolen from Baltimore County when the two people in the car fled the vehicle, Stewart said.

Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District was once well-known — notorious even — for being among the most gerrymandered in the nation. It was part of a redistricting map that state Democrats had designed to maximize their electoral advantage. But in 2022, the district, which had combined portions of Baltimore City and four counties, was redrawn by the General Assembly to make it more compact, and — under a court’s guidance — fairer.

The Mount Airy Planning Commission on Monday reviewed a detailed summary for the proposed Greentree Village project — a mixed-use development that received pre-concept sketch plan approval from the town in September 2022. The proposed development — the first of its kind to go through the town’s development review process — would be built on 12.67 acres near the intersection of North Main Street and Candice Drive on the Carroll County side of town.

 

Bertha’s Mussels — a 51-year relic of a Fells Point era gone by — took its final curtain call Monday night, owner and co-founder Tony Norris said. The Fells Point landmark had become one of Baltimore’s most recognizable restaurants, with loyal patrons smacking their signature “EAT BERTHA’S MUSSELS” bumper stickers on objects far and wide, while on trips to destinations such as the Great Wall of China and the South pole.

The discovery that “forever chemicals,” or PFAS, were used at the site of the new Public Safety Training Center in Westminster is forcing site plan modifications for stormwater management that will cost the county an additional $166,600. During the design process, PFAS were found to have been used in the foam product designed to cool and suppress fire, and as a result, design and site plan modifications need to be made to the stormwater management plan.
