@MocoModerately @IWLA_org @MontgomeryParks What is the location?
@MocoModerately @IWLA_org @MontgomeryParks Same thing happened near me on Connecticut Avenue. I (safely) shoveled it into a big plastic container for gradual re-use.
The Potomac River has grown saltier over time due to the excessive application of road salt. Izaak Walton League (@IWLA_org) is a national nonprofit based in Gaithersburg. They will send you a free kit to test and track the salinity of your local stream: http://saltwatch.org
@ClayShentrup @daniel_marcin @SenRonYoung Yes, the "bill file" of written testimony will be posted to the bill's web page after the hearing. Contact a committee member if you want to see it sooner
@MD_accountable @Enterprise Yes, following reasonable regulations that promote safety for all is a cost of doing business. As is following laws about non-discrimination. https://www.wmar2news.com/business/enterprise-to-pay-more-than-16-3-million-in-restitution-for-discriminatory-hiring
@MD_accountable @Enterprise Not every rental car company opposes the bill. Enterprise is able to comply just fine in 18 states.
@MD_accountable @Enterprise They have a choice. They can pay and pass along to the renter with admin fee (like they already do for tolls in MD). Or they can respond to the notice by providing the name & address of the driver (like they are already able to do for red light camera tickets in DE & WA)
@MD_accountable @Enterprise Not all their customers. Just the ones who endanger others by running red lights.
@MD_accountable @Enterprise Nothing stopping them from adding a small administrative fee to help defray their admin costs. That is how they are already handling video tolls (non E-ZPass) in #Maryland.
@MD_accountable @Enterprise Under the bill, the rental car company is sent a notice and has 45 days to provide the name and address of the renter/driver to the jurisdiction. That way the ticket can be sent straight to the driver and the company has 0% liability. That is how it works in WA & DE
