Today’s airstrike demonstrates @POTUS' resolve to prevent Iran from targeting America’s personnel and allies with impunity. It was a strong act that will surely send a message to Tehran that our country will not abide destabilizing actions from its forces or its proxies.
I’m disappointed by the ruling that an increase to the minimum wage would be subject to a point of order in the Senate. Gradually raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour would provide a major boost in income to 27 million Americans while lifting nearly a million out of poverty.
House Dems will move forward with consideration of the #AmericanRescuePlan tomorrow, & it will include our provision to raise the minimum wage. We must ensure that American jobs provide workers with incomes that can enable them to access opportunities & attain economic security.
Today was a proud day in the House after the #EqualityAct was passed, ending legal discrimination against LGBTQ Americans. Glad to share this day with advocates including @HRC President @AlphonsoDavid. Our work continues to ensure civil rights are secured for the LGBTQ community.
I joined CNN’s @wolfblitzer to discuss the House vote on the #AmericanRescuePlan and the importance of having a January 6th commission following the deadly attack on the Capitol last month. If you missed it you can watch it here ⬇️:
Happy birthday to my friend @DarrenSoto. Thank you for being a strong advocate for disaster relief & recovery efforts for Puerto Rico after devastating natural disasters hit the island, & for being a champion on behalf of our environment in your role on @EnergyCommerce & @NRDems.
Today, House Democrats passed the #Equality Act to end discrimination against LGBTQ Americans and affirm, once again, that justice is for all in this country. I hope the Senate will take up and pass this important legislation.
House Dems are acting to safeguard our #PublicLands and ensure a cleaner, healthier future for the next generation. I’m proud to bring the Protecting America’s Wilderness & Public Lands Act to the Floor and protect 1.5 million acres of public land to #KeepItWild.
Discrimination against LGBTQ Americans exists throughout our nation and must come to an end. I am proud to bring the Equality Act to the House Floor today to extend important protections and fundamental civil rights to every LGBTQ American.
An additional 730K Americans filed for UI claims last week, highlighting just how severe the economic fallout of this pandemic continues to be. The #AmericanRescuePlan will strengthen our economy and help families, and I look forward to bringing this bill to the Floor tomorrow.
