HB 1011
Thanks @CalvinBallTeam @AACoExec @tomhucker @delsandy @msanderson_MACo for talking about counties having the right to enact their own smoking and tobacco control ordinances beyond the statewide floor.
We work with the Planning Department @MNCPPC to prepare this presentation about once a year for downtown #SilverSpring
It gives a good overview of what's going on - quite a lot, actually. For full presentation, with audio and visuals: https://montgomerycountymd.gov/silverspring/
Residents are invited to join a free online event on Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for a conversation about Pediatric Wellness in the Time of COVID-19. Find more information at

Earlier today, the Montgomery County Director of Health and Human Services said the county was waiting on its allotment of #covid19 vaccines, the Health Dept has confirmed to @WTOP that the vaccines from last week AND this week HAVE arrived.
Dr. Benjamin, ED of @PublicHealth : "the only way to end health disparities is to 'go where the need is.' 'You take the shots to the people; you don’t ask the people to come to the shots,' Benjamin said."
TY Dr. Georges C. Benjamin, for joining on Sunday!

Great coverage of Sunday's terrific @MoCoDHHS vax operation in #WhiteOak.
And an excellent explanation by @WTOP of the importance of bringing our limited number of doses to the most vulnerable seniors in Maryland.

@RockvilleMom14 Math.
You have to vaccinate 11O,OOO people before you get to 1O% of Montgomery County.
You only have to vaccinate 3,OOO people to get to 1O% of Garrett County.
Plus, the State gives small Republican counties 3x the number of doses per capita than they give the larger ones.
"County leaders have offered up the MoCo Ag Fairgrounds...but the state says they won’t sponsor one in MoCo right now. 'Making our residents drive to Six Flags..., while Baltimore gets two mass vax locations is not fair or equitable,” said Hucker.

Again this wk, Montgomery County is #1 in Maryland in the number of vaccines administered. Yet we have the capacity to administer many times that & to make sure they are going to the highest priority residents.
We still need our fair share of doses per capita & a mass vax site.

Dr. Gayles reports that Montgomery County & @MoCoDHHS has administered the largest number of doses of #COVID19 vaccine in Maryland.
This is good news and shows that the vaccine is working. Our healthcare workers have been some of our hardest-hit residents.

This contact tracing chart shows a significant decline in COVID cases reported by healthcare workers since the beginning of the vaccination effort.
