Maryland has never elected a Black U.S. senator. But Democratic candidate Angela Alsobrooks, downplaying race and gender, said Monday it is her working-class roots that would make history if she is elected. “I think there are different factors people consider when they think about who they want representing them. I think gender and race, some people care about that,” Alsobrooks said during a Baltimore Sun editorial board interview Monday.
