Orioles, T. Rowe Price sponsorship agreement to include new uniform patch

The Baltimore Orioles and T. Rowe Price on Monday announced a sponsorship agreement for the Baltimore-based global investment management firm to become the exclusive investment and wealth management sponsor of the baseball club. The centerpiece of the deal is a T. Rowe Price-branded uniform patch that will adorn the sleeve of Orioles players’ jerseys for all regular season and postseason games, beginning Tuesday when the Orioles host the Atlanta Braves at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Under Armour bets $25M on Kevin Plank to boost stock price

Under Armour is placing a $25 million bet on Kevin Plank. The Baltimore company’s CEO has four years to double Under Armour’s stock price, and if he can do that, he will earn more than $25 million in stock compensation. Plank, who recently returned to the company’s top job, had his new compensation plan outlined in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that details the company’s financial aspirations.

Baltimore Sun staffers protest after new owners begin publishing Fox45 stories in the newspaper

Since the purchase five months ago of the Baltimore Sun by conservative broadcast mogul David D. Smith, staffers have been watching for changes, bristling at some (the rightward tilt of the op-ed pages) and eye-rolling at others (the paper now carries an “Ask the Vet” column by Smith’s veterinarian daughter, Devon Smith).

US hiring and wage growth picked up last month in sign of sustained economic health

America’s employers added a strong 272,000 jobs in May, accelerating from April and a sign that companies are still confident enough in the economy to keep hiring despite persistently high interest rates. Last month’s sizable job gain suggests that the economy is still growing steadily, propelled by consumer spending on travel, entertainment and other services. U.S. airports, for example, reported near-record traffic over the Memorial Day weekend.

Silver Spring medical offices trade hands

An aging medical center that’s part of a larger development opportunity site in Silver Spring has changed hands. Avison Young announced June 6 the sale of Doctors Medical Park, about 98,000 square feet of 1980s-era, low-rise medical office buildings at 10301 Georgia Ave., for $15.25 million. The property includes two main buildings and a smaller one in between, plus parking lots on 4.8 acres about three-quarters of a mile north of the Red Line’s Forest Glen Metro station.

She traveled the world on behalf of the city, “this Baltimore girl with her crabs,” as her maiden name became almost synonymous with the classic dish. Report finds MD firms not benefiting enough from $68B procurement economy

Maryland’s substantial government procurement economy comprises 18% of its gross domestic product and is primed to grow, but Maryland-based businesses aren’t benefiting enough, according to a Drexel University study released Thursday. Like the federal and state governments, Maryland’s local governments, especially its largest jurisdictions such as Baltimore city and Baltimore, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, have their own procurement systems.

Fells Point coffee shop Daily Grind opening a location at Baltimore Peninsula

Fells Point coffee shop Daily Grind is opening its ninth location at Baltimore Peninsula in South Baltimore. Daily Grind will open in the new 2455 House Street building, which is also home to the CFG Bank headquarters. Daily Grind was founded in 1991 in Fells Point and roasts its coffee in Little Italy. It has locations at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins University, Saint Joseph Hospital, Greenspring Station, and University of Maryland BioPark.
