The ownership group of The Mint Room, which operates three restaurants specializing in traditional delicacies from northern India, has chosen Columbia Palace Plaza in Columbia as the site of its first quick-service restaurant (QSR) concept. The restaurant chain, owned by Prince Anand, has signed a lease with Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) for 2,500 square feet of space within the Giant Food-anchored center and plans to open later this year.

Amid the ever-changing cannabis industry landscape, MariMed, a seed-to-store operation in Maryland, has received top honors in multiple categories at the 2024 Maryland Cannabis Awards. MariMed’s product, Betty’s Eddies, an all-natural cannabis fruit chew, was named Favorite Edible, and Nature’s Heritage, a flower brand, received top accolades for their Rick Simpson Oil. MariMed celebrated its 10th anniversary, a monumental achievement for a cannabis company.

A popular Rockville-based diner chain is moving up the Interstate 95 corridor with a new location in Baltimore County. Silver Diner will open its newest restaurant at 8123 Honeygo Blvd. at the Avenue at White Marsh on May 1. The diner will be the third Greater Baltimore location for the company, which hopes to expand further throughout the area and into Pennsylvania.

A Maryland-based gym that offers accessible fitness classes and facilities to people of all abilities, is expanding into Northern Virginia. SPIRIT Club founder Jared Ciner said many gyms aren’t designed in a way that allow people of varying levels of physical or mental ability to participate comfortably. “It could be anything from the environment itself — the culture of the gym might not be one that is welcoming,” Ciner said.

Baltimore Public Media is bringing back and expanding the New/Next Film Festival, an event originally conceived as a stopgap measure until the troubled Maryland Film Festival could figure out its plans. Now, with the Maryland Film Festival returning next month, Baltimore film fans will have another chance to celebrate movies this fall as the New/Next festival sets up Oct. 3-6 at the Charles Theatre.

PickleRage, an indoor pickleball club franchisor, Thursday announced its expansion into Maryland with the upcoming opening of a new corporate-operated club in Glen Burnie. The soon-to-be-constructed 26,550-square-foot club will have 10 CushionX courts designed to be joint friendly and be equipped with advanced video recording and livestreaming capabilities.
