Baltimore is home to world-class medical institutions, and we can deliver premier clinical care to residents experiencing behavioral health & substance use crises. I look forward to growing our public health diversion options over time, in partnership with community-based orgs.
Residents will be able to access the program by simply calling 911. Eligible calls will be connected to a trained mental health clinician at the Here2Help line, rather than BPD or EMS. Residents can access the free, confidential Here2Help line 24-hours a day at 410-433-5175.
Approximately 13,000 calls come into our 9-1-1 system each year for people in crisis. This citywide 9-1-1 call diversion pilot program will launch this summer and allow our officers to spend more time focusing on violence.

Thank you @JamesTorrenceJD for helping us celebrate our educators and staff for Teacher Appreciation Week. #TeacherAppreciationWeek #ThankATeacher @BaltCitySchools
Jace and I stopped by Gwynns Falls Elementary to extend a thank you to our dedicated teachers and staff. Our educators are selfless and nurture our future daily when investing their talents into our young people.
Happy Nurses Day to my beautiful wife and her fellow nurses. The way you all nurture the world with your empathy, kindness, and humanity is beyond all praises. Thank you for blessing us with your love and care.
Quick appreciation post for my colleague @JamesTorrenceJD for his leadership on ending illegal dumping.
CM Torrence sponsored a hearing today to bring about solutions. He’s been pushing for a pilot to put enforcement power back in DPW. This would be a great move for efficiency.
