As the first African-American Chairman of the Baltimore County Council, I consider it my responsibility to advocate for representation in leadership from marginalized communities. Our County leadership should reflect the racial, ethnic, and gender diversity of our County.
This morning I joined @BaltCoExec and representatives of BGE to highlight electric vehicle charging stations being installed on public sites across Balto. Co. This effort continues to ensure Balto. Co. remains environmentally friendly and continues to lower its carbon footprint!
Henry also served on the Baltimore City Council, advocating for laws that opened public accommodations for African-Americans and decreased bail requirements for people accused of crimes.

In addition, it became the first publically traded African-American company on NASDAQ’s stock exchange. This venture made Henry G. Parks Jr. one of the most successful African-American entrepreneurs.
The Parks Sausage Company started with two employees and grew into two hundred forty employees. The company had annual sales of over 14 million dollars by the mid-1960s. It became the largest African-American owned business in Baltimore.
As we conclude Black History Month, we cannot forget about those who have made a positive impact here in Baltimore, such as Henry G. Parks Jr.
Henry was born on September 29, 1916 in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1951, he founded the Parks Sausage Company in Baltimore, Maryland.
