Maryland — and Baltimore — lost an outstanding journalist and human being in the passing of Fraser Smith. As a reporter for the Balt Sun and later WYPR, he was fair and insightful; as a person, Fraser was always decent & honorable. A true loss.

A law suit is now planned against eastern shore food processing Comp. Valley Protein. Caught in numerous violations of wastewater discharge, they had the temerity to seek $13 mil in taxpayer money, approved by Hogan, until I called them out on the senate floor.
I'm disappointed that Climate Solutions Now didn't pass. The House of Delegates eviscerated key provisions and then refused to negotiate. It was a "take it or leave it" approach. “Fifty-five of the nation’s largest corporations paid no fed. income tax on more than &40 billion in profit,” a new report revealed. In MD, a third of its largest corporations have paid no state corporate taxes. We can do something about it by passing a combined reporting law.
