A US Wind project for turbines off the Ocean City coast received a key federal approval Thursday and is reportedly on path to secure its remaining federal permits by the year’s end. Ocean City officials have said that the town would sue the federal government if it approved the project, and in early August they reportedly hired a law firm and planned to join several other plaintiffs, according to a report from the OC Today-Dispatch.

In April, two parents went to Yorkwood Elementary School principal Tonya Combs-Redd bearing some bad news. Rent hikes were expected at Dutch Village, an apartment complex where many students lived. Several families, they said, couldn’t afford to stay in the Northeast Baltimore neighborhood and would have to leave the school.

Friday’s monthly jobs report will likely mark a pivotal moment for the economy and the Federal Reserve. If it shows that hiring was weak in August and that the unemployment rate rose — similar to the unexpectedly soft figures for July — it would heighten worries that the job market is stumbling. The Fed might then seek to deliver a stimulus with a larger-than-usual interest rate cut of a half-percentage point when it meets later this month.
