North Avenue Market will undergo a $30 million renovation as its new owners look to create an entertainment and cultural hub in Station North. North Avenue Market Development LLC acquired the building at 10 to 30 W. North Ave. for $3.25 million on Friday, the group announced Monday. The sale comes about a year and half after a combination restaurant, arcade and live music venue closed in the building and continues a resurgence for the space over the last year.

Stephen Schutte, general manager of Point Broadband, was awarded the Business Person of the Year Award recently by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. More than 400 people attended the chamber’s 2024 business awards event the evening of Feb. 28 at The Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown, according to a chamber news release.

Ravens fans will pay significantly more to see quarterback Lamar Jackson and company try to return to the AFC Championship game next season. The Baltimore Ravens will raise season ticket prices by an average of 13% for the 2024-25 season in a move that team officials said is necessary to stay “competitive” with the rest of the league. Along with the ticket increases, the Ravens are also debuting pricing segmentation, meaning that not every ticket in the same section at M&T Bank Stadium will have the same price.

BigBear.ai completed its $70 million acquisition of a facial recognition artificial intelligence company Friday even as two lawsuits sought to block the deal. The Columbia technology firm (NYSE: BBAI) agreed to acquire Pangiam Intermediate Holdings in an all-stock deal in November. The company issued over 61 million shares of stock to Pangiam to complete the acquisition, based on a price per share of common stock of $1.34, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Alef Aeronautics, a SpaceX-backed flying car firm, says it has reached 2,850 preorders for its futuristic electrical vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle. Alef Aeronautics, which is based in San Mateo, California, said preorder numbers recently hit a fresh record after previously reporting 2,500 preorders for its two-seater flying car, the Alef Model A. Customers can access preorders for the Model A online, and to preorder, you have to put down a $150 deposit for the vehicle. Customers can pull the deposit at any time if they want to, so they’re not locked in.

EVAPCO, one of Carroll County’s largest manufacturers, plans to expand in Taneytown for the second time in a decade and create 275 new jobs. The expansion over two years will increase EVAPCO’s employment in the county to more than 840 workers, Gov. Wes Moore said Thursday. The company, which makes commercial heating, air conditioning and refrigeration products, plans to add 45,000 square feet to its global headquarters on Allendale Lane.
