Center Maryland is tired of waiting for absentee ballots to get counted, so we're going to move ahead with announcing the winners of our first Election Pundit Contest. If any of the tentative results change and shake up our rankings, we'll be sure to announce new winners.

Lobbyist David Carroll of Capitol Strategies narrowly took first place by a half point, scoring 24.5 points out of a possible 33. (The four at-large seats on the Montgomery County Council were each worth a half point.)

Tied for second place, and just a half-point behind, were Josh Kurtz, Center Maryland's Tuesday political columnist and editor of Environment & Energy Daily, and Susan O'Brien, vice president of public affairs for the Health Facilities Association of Maryland. Josh edges out Susan by virtue of being closer on the tie-breaker -- the percentage of votes won by GOP gubernatorial candidate Brian Murphy.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest. And be sure to look for Center Maryland's second contest at the end of October for the general election.
